Which brings us to the year 1993 and the
first annual Cyber Expo.
I scraped together my month's grocery money and made the Greyhound bus trip to San Francisco. This was going to be my chance... I was finally going to meet the movers and shakers of the cyberculture face to face. The editors of all the major cyberculture magazines would be here: Phringe Surfer, FutureShock, Zik-Zak, Cybergasm, Digital Frontier, and Fast Forward, just to name a few. Smart drug entrepreneurs, rave promoters, multimedia artists, cyberpunks, hackers, inventors of mindblowing new technologies... all would be congregating here in meatspace... I was finally going to find my "in". |
