As it turned out, I didn't buy the damn computer... I went ahead and finished my final year of school.
I still remember that glow of pride I felt, that weekend in May 1994, when they handed me my diploma...I'd set my mind on a goal, worked at it, and completed it. For the first time in my life, I had accomplished something.
