Github's anchors aren't anchors: why the modern web sucks

not on blog at

Friends must be free to choose whatever software and service they want but friends shouldn't let friends post articles or rants on github. Even ignoring the perverse commercial motives for various forms of censorship github itself is anti-web. Just look at how they implement their website. The anchor tag that you(jlelse) linked to (https://github.com/RSS-Bridge/rss-bridge#rant) in your post isn't actually an anchor. It's something that looks like an anchor that only works when you download and execute a megabyte of arbitrary JS code. If you have javascript disabled it simply doesn't work.

A regular anchor tag would work in all situations on all browsers. Unfortunately github doesn't care about that.

P.S. jlelse, you should actually allow http rather than doing a 301 redirect.
